Scott’s Spare RuminationsBy NEMO Editor Scott Flax
Well, this issue brings us to the end of yet another year. I can’t wait as my favorite season approaches. From Turkey dinners to presents under the tree, or around a menorah, this is a magical time. Friendships gain warmth of shorter days and longer toasts. My holiday movie collection once again gets lifted out of mothballs for viewing, and grows with newer versions or media types. It’s a time for reflection, as we recognize change, or try to establish/maintain tradition. The year’s lessons learned kindly or by bump and bruise are filed, hopefully to become usefully employed as situation dictates. We lovingly recall friends who’ve passed, and our lives made better by their presence; added to that: lessons not to let things of quality go by, but let bygones be such. This issue also brings us to the end of the current run of NEMO. We have been more than 6 years at it, between planning and producing. We need to reflect, redirect, and reorganize. We’ll call this a hiatus with your permission, with hopes of return when ideas are cast to solid form. It has been quite a run. The worst regret is not hearing enough feedback from you for whom we’ve labored at this publication. I’m certain that the gentle cast of folk who show up at The Music Store for their copy will be kind and supportive, with our gratitude. Let’s not quite say goodbye, just so long for now, and: Play nice. Scott |
